Preoperative measures

Before elective surgery in gynaecology : -

1. Smoking should be stopped at least 24 hours before sx.

2. Combined oral contraceptive pills should be stopped for at least 1 month before sx.

3. HRT need not be stopped routinely provided that appropriate thromboprophylaxix is used like LMWH with or without TED stockings.
