Thyroid disease


1) Fetal hyperthyroidism - If the mother is euthyroid, treat with anti-thyroid drugs with maternal thyroxine replacement


2) Diagnostic radio-iodine scans are contra-indicated in pregnancy but may be undertaken if breast-feeding 

- stop breast-feeding for 24h. 
Avoid pregnancy for at least 4 months after radio-iodine treatment

3) Neonatal hyperthyroidism - Mortality up to 50%


4) Thyrotoxicosis - discontinue beta blockers once symptomatic improvement
