1) Anti-thyroid drugs cross the placenta and over-treatment may result in fetal hypothyroidism and goitre
2) No place for "block-and replace" regimens
3) Diagnostic radio-iodine scans contra-indicated in pregnancy but
may be undertaken if breast-feeding
- stop breast-feeding for 24h.
- Avoid
pregnancy for at least 4 months after radio-iodine treatment
