- Corticosteroids are first line treatment.
- Spleenectomy should be
avoided in pregnancy.
- iv gamma-globulin may be used in resistant cases
- Platelet transfusion for bleeding or to cover labour / surgery if platelet count 80 x 109/ L
- Spontaneous ante-partum haemorrhage is uncommon.
- Treatment required if
symptomatic (counts < 20x109/ L).
- Regional anaesthesia safe if
counts are stable and > 80x109/ L
- C/S for obstetric reasons only
