Acute renal failure - causes

1.  Haemorrhage - APH / PPH

2.  Sepsis

3.  Volume contraction - pre-eclampsia, hyperemesis

4.  Haemolysis -HELLP, malaria, pre-eclampsia, acute fatty liver of pregnancy, haemolytic uraemic syndrome, incompatible blood transfusion

5.  Drugs - NSAIDs, antibiotics such as aminoglycosides

6.  Ureteric damage or obstruction

7.  Adreno-cortical failure usually due to inadequate steroid cover
