Pulmonary embolism

Features of non-fatal PE include:

• Collapse


• Pleuritic chest pain


• Shortness of breath


• Haemoptysis


• Tachycardia (sinus on ECG)


• Hypoxia with hypocapnia


• Respiratory alkalosis


• Signs of right sided heart strain on ECG although these may be obscured by pregnancy changes
