Molar pregnancy - contraception choices

CONTRACEPTION

Use barrier contraception until HCG levels normalise

Once HCG levels normal, COCP can be used

IUCD should be avoided until HCG levels have normalised to reduce risk of perforation

If COCP started before diagnosis of molar pregnancy made, they can be continued but the potential small increase in risk of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia should be discussed

HRT may be used once HCG levels are normal
