Trophoblastic disease


• About 2 to 3% of hydatidiform moles are complicated by the development of choriocarcinoma.

• Associated with ovarian theca-lutein cysts

• COCP may increase the risk of requiring chemotherapy if given before HCG levels return to normal

• Sensitive to chemotherapy with methotrexate but combination chemotherapy is now used.
